Description

This ring is composed of a gold band embellished on the exterior with black enamel and gold lettering. The center is set with a plait of brunette human hair under glass and surrounded by alternating faceted jet beads and seed pearls. It is enclosed in its original case (1927.217.2AB)

Outer band: "WILL. M THURSTON OB:25 AUG. 1822 AE 49" Inner band contains a London duty mark, a crown and "18" indicating 18 kt gold, leopard's head, date letter "g" for the year 1822-23, and an unidentified maker's mark. (Gold paint, hallmark and maker's mark)
