Description

This headdress is composed of a single strand of silk leaves, white silk flowers, and wax-coated silk orange blossoms. It has a pair of matching drop orange blossom earrings with french wires (.2ab) and a corsage of orange blossoms and leaves set against a tulle net pouf (.3). The entire group was originally housed in a white paper candy box (.4ab)

Label

"Mementos: Jewelry of Life and Love from Historic New England": For her 1871 wedding to Frank Mason Burrough, Elizabeth Fairbrother wore orange blossoms in her hair, sewn to her dress, and as earrings. A beautifully carved chalcedony cameo was part of her wedding jewelry.
