Deborah Lang married William Putnam Richardson on August 6, 1807, in Salem, Massachusetts, wearing this mother-of-pearl comb brought from China by her intended or his father, both shipmasters in the East India trade. This elegant comb is engraved on both sides and bears Deborah's initials.
