From "Waiting for a Gallery": The Hampshire Pottery in Keene, NH, was one of many of the small "art" pottery companies which flourished early in this century. SPENA's founder, William Sumner Appleton, collected examples of art pottery directly from manufacturers like the Paul Revere Pottery in Boston in the 1920s.
