One of many views related to the early United States and its history that appear in the online exhibit "Patriotic America."This cup shows the visit of La Fayette to his friend's (Benjamin Franklin's) tomb on the occasion of the General's triumphant return to America in 1824, shown on the pieces with Landing of La Fayette at Castle Garden........etc. La Fayette also visited the tomb of Washington which is represented by a similar scene.
