More than half-length portrait of a young woman with high cheekbones and blues eyes: wears a black dress with sloping shoulders, wears a close, white cap and holds a book in her left hand. In the background is a landscape of a river with a side wheel steamer, a white church and a red house on the shore. It is in its original mahogany frame.
