A large carved and painted wooden decoy representing a Canada goose with a black and gray body. It has a black head with a white stripe, cheeks and tail. It has brown glass eyes and a very delicately incised beak area. There is a lead weight inserted into the base and a second nailed to the base. A hook is sunk into the bottom front, still holding a lead string.

On orange tape in ballpoint, on the bottom of the goose is: Joe Lincoln/Hingham, Mass. According to further study on this goose, it was decided that the maker is actually Charles A. Safford of Plum Island, not Joe Lincoln.
