Signed in white paint, in the lower right corner is: L. Elwell . Typed on a jelly label on the lower left of the cardboard back is: First Congregational church, Essex,/Mass. (Chebacco Parish, Ipswich). Fourth/church building built 1792, with Revere bell cast in 1797./Painted by Louis Elwell about 1955/when an old man, in Essex. In red pencil, upside down on the board's back is: 18x24.
