Small rectangular format, of a river view with ships on the Canton River. Hills and forts line the banks, and vessels include a junk and a British ship. It has the original bevel-shaped profile frame with gilded inner molding.

In old handwriting in black pen on a blue paper glued to the backing, it reads: Bogne or forts at the entrance of the Canton River. This is repeated in pencil [faded] on a paper backing. On a jelly label on the frame's bottom center, in blue pen is: Lent by/N.F. Little. On masking tape in a black magic marker is: 79. On a circular sticker, with black felt tip pen, on the upper right of the frame is: 76. In the upper right of the frame back are chinese characters in charcoal(?).
