Inscribed on the picture front is: Now Sheperds to your helpless charge be bind./Baffle th rageing year, and fill their peus/With food as will; lodge them below the storm/And watch them strict./Vide Thomson's Winter/From an original picture in the collection of Mr. Benj. Babbage/to whom this plate is dedicated, by his humble serv./Thos. Macklin. It has an original paper back and a recent printed label inscribed: SPNEA/FOGG ART MUSEUM/LOAN FOR EXAMINATION/TL 22332.3 .
