Purple and white vertically striped silk taffeta. Round neckline; sharply pointed front, fishtail peplum; panel in back. thirteen purple silk buttons down center front. Yoke trimmed with double row of pleated purple satin ribbon, tapering to a point in back at peplum with purple silk covered button on either side of point. 3/4 length sleeves with turned back cuff. Outside edge of sleeve and cuff trimmed with pleated purple satin ribbon. Boned darts in front, princess seams, 3/4 of way in back. Bodice (A) lined with brown glazed linen. Sleeves lined with white cotton. Cuffs lined with white silk with inner ruffle of pleated white silk. Hook and eye closure on lining at waist. Skirt (B) has self waist band with inner band of white cotton twill. Hook and eye closure at back. Pocket on left side of brown glazed linen. Box pleats. four sets of hook and eyes inside skirt, possibly for the bustle.
