Garnet velvet with inserts of bright pink damask with rose's and lily of valley; Bodice (A) - pink damask lapel; placket (placket is gathered at center) with princess neck edged with silk tulle; fitted elbow length sleeves, slightly gathered at shoulder, with pink damask and velvet "X" at cuff; boned; pointed front and back waistline; 2 velvet bows at waist; 12 velvet covered buttons; lined with white silk twill. Bodice (B) - matching garnet velvet; broad neckline; garnet satin piping at neck, armscye and waist; short sleeves; pointed waist (front only); natural waistline at back; boned; laced back closure with original silk cording; lined with white cambric; handstitched. Panel (D) - Garnet satin panel; pleated; garnet satin bows applied at pleats; flared hem; unfinished at top. Panel may have been applied to skirt at one time - note stitch marks along selvages. Skirt (C) - velvet, with front and side panels of pink damask; velvet bows at sides; bustle pad attached at back; gathered at back; pleated satin hem with taffeta; pleated voile dust ruffle trimmed with lace; 2 boned bars across back, below bustle.
