Description

Midnight blue/black silk velvet with black braid and jet bead; Zouave style jacket (A) - hook and eye at neck, cut away at waist; collar, front, shoulder and cuffs trimmed with scalloped band of jet beads (balls like pom-poms and bugle beads); lined with black taffeta; Skirt (B) - matching velvet skirt - silk twill waistband with hook and eye at back; smooth front; fullness in cartridge pleats at back; very full skirt with train; 2 velvet flounces at hem; pocket on right front; hem lined with black wool buckram dust ruffle; drawstring exposed at center back (for drawing up when walking).
