The plates are grouped together at the end of each section, except for the frontispiece illustration for each section, in alternating groups of 6 and 8, and are numbered I to VI or I to VIII.
Textured brown cloth binding; lettering and picture of a baptismal font tooled in gilt within a ruled frame blind stamped on upper cover; same design and lettering repeated in blind on lower cover; spine lettered in gilt with rules blind stamped at top and base; plain beige endpapers; t.p. lettered in red or black with Plate I of the first section as frontispiece; top edges gilt.
Inscribed A. R. Esty (Alexander R. Esty (1826-1881), architect). Book accompanied by an orginal design sketch, possibly by Esty.
