Description

Earthenware plate with scalloped rim and mulberry-colored transfer-print from the "Caledonia" series by William Adams and Sons. The pattern depicts a Scottish highland hunter with hunting dog beside a newly slain buck. The hunter wears a kilt and hat with feathers and holds a horn and rifle. In the distance are additional hunters and a rural, mountainous landscape. The border pattern is a repeating scene of Scottish hunters in kilts, one raising is hat in his hand, alternating with a scroll and flower figure.
