More than 800 daguerreotypes reside in SPNEA's Library and Archives. It is a huge and impressive collection. Of those, there are 14 extraordinary daguerreotypes of Plymouth, Mass. The origin of these images are nebulous at best, but they are fascinating, crystallized moments of a time past in a town that was once described as "one of the most celebrated places in the world, [and] is in another sense one of the most obscure."
