"On Aug. 8, 1805, Thomas Paul and 20 others gathered in a schoolhouse in Boston for the purpose of organizing the first Black church in the city. J. Marcus Mitchell traces the roots of the Paul family and their contributions to our knowledge of the Black community in this country."
