Description

Wooden Fijian throwing club, or 'i ula tavatava. Short-handled club with heavy, round, carved and grooved head. The bottom of the handle is carved with vertical lines of zigzags. 'I ula tavatava were used both as a throwing weapon and in hand-to-hand combat. There are many different types of 'i Ula based on their shape. 'I Ula tavatave are characterized by their grooved and flanged heads.
