Wooden gavel with engraved silver plate on handle. Inscriptions commemorate important Revolutionary War battles, people, and events. "Royal Savage" was a two-masted schooner that was part of the American Lake Champlain squadron. The "Royal Savage" ran aground and was burned by the British in 1776. "U.S.D. 1812" Might refer to the National Society United States Daughters of 1812 which was founded in 1892 and is dedicated to promoting patriotism, and preserving and increasing knowledge of the history of American people. "Helen F. Yeaton" was the founder of the Colonel Thomas Gardner Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Allston, Massachusetts. "Lawrence" participated in the Battle of Lake Erie in 1813. In 1876 the hull of the "Lawrence" was displayed at the United States Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. "Constitution 1797-1897" participated in many battles during the War of 1812. 1897 was her centennial celebration and the year when she was towed to the Charlestown Navy Yard for repair.
