Historical/Biographical Note

Historical/Biographical Note

*This series consists of the former contents of a large portfolio which held oversize materials presumed to have been part of the Otis Family Papers which Samuel Eliot Morison to Society for the Preservation of New Antiquities.

In the Plot and House Plans part, there is a mix of documents that were found tied together, apparently for the purpose of maintaining a comprehensive record of various land transactions undertaken by the development corporations with which Otis was associated. Other documents in the Deeds and Papers part were found loose and have no established provenance, other than having been found in the portfolio.
