This is one of six ancient / plates long in the Willis family / and was given to Miss Caroline / Duncan about 1885 by her / mother's cousin Miss Ann / Osgood of Haverhill. At the / death of Miss Duncan in 1917. / it came to me, Stephen W. Phillips. / I am no expert, but it appears to be / either Chinese or English Delft. / I do not know which. It is / certainly very old middle of / 18th century at least and / very pretty. (handwritten)
