This series consists primarily of letters written to James Rundlet May from the following: A. P. Peabody (1849, 1858), Louisa Catherine (Rundlet) May (1860), C. A. Stuart (1861), Carrie Morison (1882), Charles S. Warner (1884), C. S. Thames (1884), Harrison O. Apthorp (1900), William J. Ladd (1912), Harry E. Kelly (1915-1917), Elihu Chauncey (1916), Seth Low Pierrepont (1918), and the Federal Fire Society (undated). This subseries also consists of a small number of letters written by James Rundlet May to the following: Elizabeth Shortridge (1914) and the Federal Fire Society (undated). It also includes a letter from "Bijou" to "Ajax" (1871), an undated letter from Annie to Jacquot, letters from Burt G. Wilder to Alfred Gooding (1915) and from J. H. Daniels to Frank Hackett (1918), and Mary Ann Morison and James Rundlet May's wedding invitation.
