Description

Portrait of Ella Lyman (Mrs. Richard Clarke Cabot 1866-1934) and Susan Lyman (1869-1878). Susan, the blond girl on the left, wears a light blue dress with apron, light blue slippers and tights. Blue hair ribbon and a pearl necklace. She holds a single yellow rose. Her sister, Ella, on the right has long brown hair held back with a red ribbon. She wears a black dress with a lace collar and sleeves. Her sash, tights, slippers are red. Her necklace appears to be made of coral and is a reddish orange color, she is holding a few yellow roses. Ella is sitting on a yellow chair and her feet rest on a matching yellow curtain. A pink rose is laying on the floor (right corner). The background is green and red. The frame and canvas are square shaped. The frame is gesso and gilt.
