Description

Fancy chair with open carvings of Prince of Wales feathers on back. Both chairs are painted green with painted ivy on front legs and on the top of the chairs' rails and top half of both shoulders. Both have shield backs with ivy on back. Both seats are upholstered in same fabric of light green brocade with pattern on maroon, peach, blue and yellow flowers. Both chairs are armless. The chairs have many differences. With 1997.49.1, the paint on the legs and the back is a darker green. The paint has deteriorated a great deal. The wood is warped. The piping on the bottom on the seat is green and white and surrounds the whole cushion.
