Description

Fancy chair with open carvings of Prince of Wales feathers on back. Both chairs are painted green with painted ivy on front legs and on the top of the chairs' rails and top half of both shoulders. Both have shield backs with ivy on back. Both seats are upholstered in same fabric of light green brocade with pattern on maroon, peach, blue and yellow flowers. Both chairs are armless. The chairs have many differences. 1997.49.2: The paint on the legs and back is a light green. Gold gilding is more visible on 1997.49.2 than .1. The gilding is on the top and bottom of the rails and the Prince of Wales feathers on the back of both chairs. The piping on the bottom of .2's seat is plain green and surrounds the whole cushion.
