Victrola

Description

Tabletop victrola in paneled mahogany case with bun feet. Brass arm and green felt covered turntable. The canted lid opens on a brass hinges and can be propped up with a brass catch. Inside the top of the lid is an RCA Victor label that consists of "Nipper" listening to his master's voice from a Victor Talking Machine along with the words "Victrola manufactured by Victor Talking Machine Co. Camden, NJ USA. Patented in the United States & Foreign Countries." Inside the case on the rear panel to the right of the playing arm is a metal label held in with small nails. It also depicts Nipper listening to his master's voice along with a the writing "Victor made by Victor Talking Mch Co Style: VVXII 3097A Patented in US and Foreign Countries Camden New Jersey USA." The case itself is surrounded by a border of carved interlocking circles above panels. At the base are two small doors with brass knobs. Both open to expose the speaker. A brass crank with a mahogany knob extends from the right side of the case. A brass escutcheon is found at the front of the case holding its original key with the letter "V" in the openwork circle.
