Description

Half-length portrait of Sarah Hubbard Fayerweather in a red silk dress. Her dark hair is dressed back from her face and lies in ringlets down her back, one over her left shoulder. With her left hand she opens the front of her dress, revealing a cream-colored undergarment. Behind her right shoulder is a portion of an open window, through which clouds and trees are visible. The frame is carved and gilded.
