Oil portrait of Richard Waldron (1694-1753) of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. 3/4 length view of a man facing right, standing and resting his arm on a table on which rests a document with legend, "Sali Populi Subrema Lex." Man wears a curled wig, white flowing stock, frock coat and vest. Background with shelves of law books (alluding to sitter's legal career) with drapery at right. Original molded wood frame.
