Historical/Biographical Note

Historical/Biographical Note

Josiah was the nephew of Stephen Little. He was born in 1747 and died in 1830. He married Sarah Toppan (1748-1823). He was a man of great energy and business talent. He had charge of his father's real estate for many years, and early on gained an acquaintance with the worth of wild lands, which was of great advantage to him. He was also engaged to a considerable extent in shipping, and was a large owner of real estate in the business portion of Newburyport.
