Description

Waist length portrait of Rev. John Codman (1782-1847), quarter turned to left. Dark background with view out window of a Church tower. Seated on a red upholstered chair with some wood visible at arm. He is later in years (middle age) with gray hair, white collar and black robe. In his right hand, he is holding a rolled piece of paper that has writing on it. In a gilt wooden frame, the painting is set into frame which has scroll and foliate decoration on borders.
