Description

Low chest, used as base for five drawer high chest. Low chest has four drawers and finished top. Cabriole legs with slipper feet. Two drop finials flank center arch of skirt. Brass batwing shaped drawer hardware. The two parts of the chest came from two different pieces of furniture in the Jewett House. The family split up the the two pieces and "married" the current top and bottom parts of the chest. This low chest was originally located in the second floor hall of the Sarah Orne Jewett House in South Berwick, Maine.
