Description

Two-piece beige lace women's dress with a spray of artificial flowers attached to the bodice. The bodice has a fitted collar and puffed elbow length sleeves. The spray of artificial flowers runs vertically from the breastbone to the navel. The bottom edge of the bodice is trimmed with a wide satin ribbon. The bodice is lined with a creamed colored silk, which is badly shattered. The stand-up collar and upper portion of the bodice has ten tiny hook and loop closures. The lower portion of the bodice is closed by a medium sized hooks and loop. Attached to the inner side of the bodice is a stiff ribbon that goes around the waist. Imprinted on the ribbon are a coat of arms and an eagle standing on a shield and " R.A. McCormick Boston." The interior of the bodice also has twelve stiff vertical bands sewn into the lining. There are four thin vertical bands sewn into the collar to help it stand up. The lace overlay of the bodice is gray with dirt and grime. The skirt portion of the dress is comprised of several layers. The beige lace is over the beige netting with a silk taffeta lining. The skirt is cut long in the back and forms a small train. There is also a small bustle sewn in the back of the skirt. The bottom of the taffeta lining is pleated. The taffeta is extremely brittle and much of the lining has shattered. The skirt has a thin satin ribbon around the waist and a simple hook and loop closure. The bottom edges of the skirt are extremely dirty.
