Description

Two piece Swiss cotton women's dress with detachable petticoat. The bodice has a simple stand up collar and full length puffed sleeves. The front of the bodice has a rounded overlay that drapes over the chest. The back of the bodice has three hook and loop closures at the neck, three cloth covered buttons in the center, and two hook and loop closures at the waist. Attached to each shoulder is a long sash. The sashes fall to just above the knee, but it appears that the sashes may have crisscrossed at the back and tied at the front of the waist. The full length skirt has two parts. A plain cotton underskirt with a wide Swiss cotton ruffled hem and a sheer Swiss cotton overlay with a scalloped edged hem. Both layers of the skirt have a simple cotton band around the waist and a single hook and loop closure at the waist. There is a sewn in pocket at the back right hip. There are creases all over the dress from being crushed in the trunk.
