Description

Two piece ivory lace and satin women's dress. The bodice has a simple stand-up collar and puffed elbow length sleeves. The bodice consists of several layers. An ivory colored chiffon covered by a lace overlay with ivory satin ribbon trim. The center panel of the bodice has two satin bows and four rhinestones as decoration. The satin ribbon of the bows threads through the lace layer and over the shoulders ending at the back waist in two bows with long sashes. The back of the bodice has two layers of hooks and loops. The top lace layer has fifteen hook and loop closures. The inner chiffon layer has twenty-two hook and loop closures. The inner part of the bodice has nine boning strips around the waist. The disintegrating arm shields were removed. The inner bodice also has a stiff ribbon around the waist with the label "A. Gallaher Boston." The full length shirt has several layers. An ivory silk lining, covered by an ivory chiffon, covered by an ivory lace with floral and leaf designs. The front hem of the skirt is shorter than the back creating a small train. The bottom hem of the silk layer has pleated edges. The bottom hem of the chiffon layer has gathered and ruffled edges and the top lace layer has scalloped edges. The waistband of the skirt has two layers of hook and loop closures. The inner silk layer has six hoop and loop closures. The outer lace layer also has six hook and loop closures.
