Women' s dress

Description

Blue and white ankle-length women's dress with elbow-length sleeves and lace trimmings. The sleeves have a bulge in material sewn in for the elbows. They are trimmed in banded lace with ruffles on both edges and four iridescent beads on the outer edge. The v-shaped neckline has a variation of a lace yolk collar. The lace is ruffled and is sewn together in places on the shoulder to create gathers. There is a central lace panel that extends down to the waistline and attaches to the neckline on the upper left side under the collar with one hook and eye and four snaps. There are two darts on each shoulder, ending in pleats above each breast. There is an opening on the left side seam with five snaps and one hook and eye. The straight waistline has pleats to create gathers at the top. The belt is attached around the waistline and snaps on the left side with three snaps. There are four seams running from the waistline to the bottom of the hem. At the top edge of the neckline there is a white fabric label which reads "Mary Cummings, Louisville" in blue thread script. The back of the sleeves have the same lace trimmings. The back of the sleeves at the shoulders are two pleats giving the sleeves a puff shape. The back of the neckline has the ruffled lace and has five darts. The belt is also sewn to the waistline in the back. There are two seams running from the waistline to the hem giving the skirt a gentle flare.
