Description

Library table. Marble inset, walnut, ebonized walnut, and Circassian walnut trim outlined in gilt. Rectangular table top has varicolored Italian marble inlay in patterns such as rectangle with cavetto corners, a black marble oval outlined by a varicolored sunburst and patterns of varicolored marble squares within a black marble rectangular frame. Table skirt features rectangular circassian walnut panels framed by gilt trim. Skirt's central carved pendant flanked by carved scrolled acanthus leaves. It features a high-relief dart-shaped catouche which surmounts a triglyph flanked by volute scrolls, a flower drop, and a background of paterae. Columnar legs with rectilinear turnings, carved fluted half paterae, and square Circassian walnut panels framed by gilt trim. Stretchers feature a central carved sculptural vase with rectangular gilt-framed circassian walnut panels. Piece rests on casters.
