Coat

Description

Calf length taupe wool coat. The neckline has no collar, but there are lapels. On the upper left shoulder area there is a large wool covered button. On the right lapel corner there is a loop made of taupe thread for the button. On both shoulders there is a strip of taupe wool running down the top of the shoulder and ending in a triangular point partway down the sleeve. The edges of the sleeves are bordered by a double seam that creates a cuff effect. There is also an extra strip running up the side of the sleeve about seven inches that ends in another triangular point and creates a faux split sleeve. To close the coat there is one wool covered button on the left side about one-third of the way down the coat. There is a loop created from taupe wool attached to the right side. There are pockets on either side of the coat. They are open at the top and angle down towards the side seams. They are trimmed with strips of taupe wool on the top and inner side edges and the inner side edges end in a triangular point. The shape of the coat is a straight and tailored. The inside is lined with taupe silk. At the neckline on the inside there is a rectangular cream label with orange and blue stitching which reads: "Lamson and Hubbard Company Boston." It is stitched on at the sides with x's of orange thread. The back is completely plain and unadorned except for five vertical darts extending a short way down from the neckline.
