Description

Grecian-style rectangular card table has folding top that swivels to open. Top rest on an lyre-shaped pillar with leaf carvings ending in rosettes. The pillar stands on a base supported by scrolled legs with applied disks, ending in brass casters. The frame has a veneered frieze with a rectangular tablet in the center and panels at the front corners.

"Thomas Whightman/ Carver/ Back of B[illeg.] & Horton/ Boston" (Thomas Wightman's carving shop location was "Back of Baker & Horton", who were sign painters who advertised in 1821 that they had just removed from 3 Boylston Square to 5 Boylston Street (July 25, 1821, Boston Daily Advertiser.))
