Description

Album of 144 mounted albumen prints, approximately 2 ½ x 2 ½ inches, exposed circa 1872. Album is inscribed "regards W. E. Pollock, 1872." Included are 10 pages of Lowell, Massachusetts views, of municipal, commercial and church buildings, trains, bridges, canals, and cemeteries. Also includes locations in Wellesley, Boston, Cambridge, Oak Bluffs, and Niagara Falls. The formal gardens at the Hunnewell Estate in Wellesley are especially nice.

The format strongly resembles that used to produce stereographic views and suggests that these prints may have been intended for this purpose. Photographic quality is excellent. Photographers not identified.
