Description

Four albums compiled by Waldo Sprague (some original work; some photographs collected by him), containing approximately 484 views of predominately second period architecture in this region (album 4). While localities are specified within each album, considerably more information about individual structures, date of photograph, and orientation of the photographer is often available on the reverse of several prints in album 50-4. Negatives exist of the prints in this volume (SPNEA "a series").

While coverage of the region's early architectural traditions is extensive, the documentary value of these photographs suffers from a too-distant perspective in most images. Work dates to the 1930s-1940s. Extensive coverage of Hingham, Mass and Nantucket, Mass.
