Description

This album, with dimensions of 11 1/2 x 15 5/16 x 7/8 inches, has an embossed brown cover and contains a collection of black and white photographs depicting the activities and projects of a woodworking shop in Salisbury, Massachusetts. All of the images are in good condition. The photos mostly appear to depict preparations for a week celebrating the tercentenary of the town during the summer of 1938, perhaps undertaken by a group of volunteers. The projects include such activities as making and lettering parking signs and the erection of a tourist information booth and a signpost. Other activities depicted include several chair building projects and the completion of a fourteen-foot wooden row boat.

Overall, there are ten mounted 8 x 10 inch prints, six loose 8 x 10 inch prints, and twenty smaller loose prints. Two of the large prints depict the launching of a seaplane landing float in Salisbury harbor with a view of Newburyport on the far side. As noted in an annotation on the reverse, this project was sponsored by a National Defense program. A small red, white, and blue ribbon is loose inside the album.
