Description

Ceramic plate with painted black bottom and black and white handpainted surface decoration of a pair of giraffes. One giraffe is drinking water the other is nibbling leaves from a tree. Nannie Phillips butterfly mark painted by the drinking giraffe's front right foot. Painted to commemorate James Duncan and Nannie Borden Phillips' 1930-1931 trip from Capetown to Cairo.
