Keeper not identified. Accounts appear to be those of a proprietor of a general store which seems to have specialized in the sale of spirits, besides thread, flax, vegetables and other staples. It also seems to have provided many services, such as hauling, butchering, etc. The majority of debtors are from Bridgewater, though records also refer to residents of Hallafax [sic], Abington, and Charlestown. Several leaves have been excised from the front of the book, and mention made of the fact that the accounts have been transferred to this book from another. Pagination begins at page 44 and continues to page 212. Some sections have been snipped out. In pencil, though erased, on verso of [detached] front board is inscription, in a later hand, "B.W. Bennett, Bridgewater, MA."
