Includes approximately 100 8 x 10 aerial photographs taken in Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island and New York coastal communities. Also included are photographs of the S.S. Bear (Byrd Expedition, Newfoundland), as it departed from Boston. Other localities represented are Rockport, Annisquam, Gloucester and Cape Cod. Majority of photographs have been identified. Photographs taken by aerial photographer Thomas Francis Hartley, whose firm Hartley and Arnold maintained offices at the Boston Airport (later General Edward Lawrence Logan International Airport) in the 1930s and 1940s.
