An exterior view of the front façade of the Greek Revival United States Customhouse in Boston. Ammi Burnham Young designed the building, whose construction was completed in 1849. Doric columns support the pediment above the sweeping entrance steps. Part of the ribbed saucer dome can be seen. The cobblestone street in front of the Customhouse is deserted. Two men sit against the wall of the structure next to the entrance to several agencies, including the office of the superintendent of warehouses.
