This 1885 calendar was published by the New England Mutual Life Insurance Company of Boston and engraved by John A. Lowell and Co. of Boston. The calendar is comprised of two images. The scene in the top half of the calendar is entitled "The New England of Years Ago" and depicts a young woman, who is wearing a bonnet, cloak and muff standing on a path leading to a farm. The scene in the lower half of the calendar is entitled "The New England of Today" and shows the New England Mutual Life Insurance Company building on the left in Post Office Square. The building is at the intersection of Milk and Congress Streets.
