The booksellers and publisher, Wm. White & Co., and the silk and straw goods and artificial flowers store, J. W. Plimpton & Co., are listed at 158 Washington Street in the 1871 Boston City Directory. The "Banner of Light" was a spiritualist weekly periodical that was published from 1857 to 1907.
