Samuel Hill engraved this view of the Hancock House, which was published as the frontispiece of volume I, number VII of "The Massachusetts Magazine, or, Monthly Museum of Knowledge and Rational Entertainment," in July 1789. A man leans on a fence and looks across Boston Common toward the Hancock House.
