Description

A portrait of the Madonna and Child and a young John the Baptist. Light is radiating from her head and the infant's head. A yellow halo is behind John the Baptist's head. There are two angels at the bottom of the throne in the lower right corner. Behind the figures is a small staff with a white banner. The wood frame is elaborately carved and painted gold.

"Bought by Miss Julia West Winter of 1801 1802 from Conat de / Montagua. Who bought it from Palazzo Alberti / Corves Lung Acrcco della Girazia / via die Busci / Kept in Florence until 1896. When brought to Balius: Acquired by me in 1904 / School of Murvillo" (Handwritten note in black pen on reverse.)
