Description

In this engraving, in a 3 in. gilt frame, 3 ships are tossed on a turbulent sea. A smaller fishing craft appears to be approaching the larger ship, Le Francais. Ladies and gentlemen are on Le Francais's deck. Further in the background, a third larger sailing vessel appears to sit calmly and unmanned.
